LACCD District Wide Data Center
Los Angeles, CA
Overview
This project consolidates nine data centers. The new Tier III data center has multiple paths for power and cooling, and redundant systems that allow LACCD IT staff to work on the setup without taking anything offline. The project team included design considerations to achieve anticipated annual data center uptime of 99.982% as a part of this important initiative.
Exante360 Contribution
Exante360's design included structured cabling, outside plant, and fire alarm. An important contribution early in the project, was highlighting existing point-to-point dark fiber that could provide the Tier 3 redundancy, and that had been overlooked.
Benefit to the Client
For this project, LACCD initially wanted all new equipment, however, Exante360 identified that they still have viable equipment on site that could be utilized moving forward. Furthermore Exante360 played a determining role during the early stages of migration planning.
Operations Perspective
Building a Tier 3 data center is not an easy feat. Exante360 was able to consult closely with the District to ensure appropriate appreciation of many of the intricacies of the project, and to set expectations with an eye on meeting the schedule and budget.
